Credit Controller (Full-time, Permanent Role)
A growing business with a high-volume customer base is seeking an experienced Credit Controller to join its finance team on a permanent basis. This is a hands-on position managing a large portfolio of UK and international customers, with responsibility for cash collection, credit control and ledger management.
This role will suit someone confident dealing with customers, insurers and internal stakeholders in a fast-paced finance environment.
The Role
Reporting to the Finance Controller, you will take ownership of the sales ledger, ensuring accurate invoicing, effective credit control processes and timely cash collection, while resolving customer account queries as they arise.
Key Responsibilities
- Take responsibility for the day-to-day management of the sales ledger covering over 500 UK and overseas customer accounts
- Produce sales invoices through automated ERP systems, along with manual invoicing where required
- Post and allocate daily cash receipts across multiple currencies
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with customer credit control teams
- Actively manage debt collection to ensure payments are received within agreed terms
- Liaise with credit insurers to secure and maintain appropriate cover for new and existing customers
- Work closely with internal departments and customers to resolve invoice and account queries
- Prepare customer statements and supporting reports as required
- Compile regular aged debt reports, including commentary and recommended actions, for the Finance Controller
About You
- Proven experience working in a credit control position
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with sound judgement
- Highly organised, with the ability to manage competing priorities
- Clear and professional communicator at all levels, written and verbal
- GCSE Maths and English (Grade A–C) or equivalent
- Confident user of Microsoft Office applications
- Good working knowledge of debt collection legislation
- Institute of Credit Management qualification (desirable)
- Team-focused, adaptable and comfortable with changing workloads
