Good News for Norfolk Jobs in teh New Year…
With a continuing downward trend in unemployment and news of Norfolk businesses expanding and recruiting, the local economic picture continues to brighten as 2014 gets into full swing. The latest government figures released by the Office for National Statistics in mid-December show that unemployment in the East of England fell by 35,000 in the three months to the end of October.
“We are optimistic about 2014, particularly due to the significant recent increase we’ve seen in finance placements in Norfolk,” said Justin Murray, director of Norwich-based accountancy recruitment specialists, Big Sky Additions. “We’re pleased to report that we have clients that are recruiting at all levels, for positions in a range of settings from SMEs to private equity backed companies.”
The burgeoning East Anglian energy sector continues to expand, with two Norfolk companies recently announcing significant recruitment plans for 2014. As a world-renowned hub for over forty years, the East of England energy industry, centred around Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft, currently supports 105,000 jobs with an annual turnover of £13bn.
Great Yarmouth-based production technology company Proserv added 60 Great Yarmouth jobs in 2013, with a further 90 proposed for this year.
Recruitment plans are also afoot at 3Sun Group – a specialist provider of products and services to the energy industry based in Great Yarmouth. “We plan to increase the team in Yarmouth by 10pc in 2014 and increase our team of field technicians by 20pc, who will also work from the Yarmouth base,” said Managing Director, Graham Hacon.
