In June of this year, we welcomed Tina Maguire to the Big Sky Additions team in the role of Associate Director. Over the past six months, Tina has been working hard with clients and candidates to match high quality staff with rewarding roles in businesses throughout Norfolk. We thought this would be a great opportunity to tell you a bit more about Tina and catch up with news of what she has been up to over the past six months:
How long have you worked in recruitment?
“Since 1993. After being made redundant for the second time (!), I joined an agency that had placed me in London. I started there as a temp controller – a good foundation for a recruitment career. I left London to return to Norfolk and since 1995 I have worked for national and local recruiters, covering all levels of finance and accountancy. I really enjoy getting to know the people that make the Norfolk business community so unique.”
Why did you join Big Sky Additions?
“I jumped at the chance to return to focusing on finance and accountancy recruitment at all levels, and the opportunity to move away from a rigid office based environment. It’s great to be able to place candidates in a range of temporary and permanent roles, in both qualified and non-qualified positions. When I joined the team, Justin and Sam had successfully been in business for 3 years, specialising in finance and accountancy recruitment in Norfolk. They had developed modern working practices that utilise the best of technology, while really concentrating on the crucial human aspect of the business. I was struck by their ethic of hard work and enjoying what you do, which closely matched mine.”
What has been your experience since joining them?
“The biggest change has been working as a partner in a business, rather than an employee. I have real input into the business and work as a team with Sam and Justin, experiencing the highs and lows of running a business. We are all passionate about the service we supply and very conscious that recruitment needs to be professional, good value and in Norfolk its also about maintaining strong client / candidate relationships.
The second significant change for me has been the working methods – I enjoy working flexibly and having control over my diary. It’s important that we are contactable any time and we do put in the hours.
The last 6 months has gone quickly and I am very much back to my recruitment roots. I have a real sense of pride and enjoyment in the work I have done and in being part of Big Sky Additions.”
